INSTRUCTORS
BRIAN MINGIA
Brian is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt with over 30 years of martial arts experience. He is a former law enforcement officer and has spent the past 15 years developing customized task and mission specific courses for law enforcement and the special operations community. Brian spent two years as an assistant human performance coach for the NFL Oakland Raiders and has competed and medaled locally and internationally. Brian loves surfing and spending time with family during his time away from the gym.
TAMAL DODGE
Tamal was born on the island of Oahu and is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Tahi Burns in Southern California. He is a world renowned yoga instructor and movement specialist. Tamal brings an anatomical, technical approach to his Jiu-Jitsu classes and looks to help his students understand the details of this art. Tamal is a surfer, musician, business owner and father.
Maddie is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. She began training martial arts with her father at the age of three. At the age of sixteen she earned her blue belt and competed and medaled in multiple tournaments. She has also volunteered her time instructing women’s and children’s self-defense seminars. Maddie has a passion for teaching children. She develops their knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense which builds their confidence and self-esteem. Maddie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Wilmington where she received a BS degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology.
JESSE COLLINS
Jesse is a lifelong martial artist that started training boxing around the age of 15. Through the years he has cross trained in multiple practices including Jeet Kune Do, Shootfighting, & Kali. His main emphasis has however steadily remained on Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
He has a black belt in Kickboxing under John Maynard with Joe Lewis and Miletich Fighting Systems. He also has a black belt in BJJ under Renato “Charuto” Verissimo (Nova Uniao Hawaii) and Brian Mingia.
Jesse has also trained with multiple amateur and pro fighters, as well as law enforcement, and military personnel.
TYLER BROGAN
Tyler (aka Tarzan) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, kids instructor and striking coach at EPOCH. When Tyler isn’t competing in Muay Thai he is grappling on the mats daily.
